The fabric of our Lainguz piece is made by hand with organic cotton threads woven on pedal loom. A special technique is used to weave the threads with loose tension making it a very light wear.
Green / Brown
This color combines threads in green and brown shades. The green shade comes from a double dye bath process over wood fire, extracting color from indigo and marigold plants. While the brown shade comes from coyuchi cotton or naturally colored cotton, without the need to dye.
Blue / White
This color combines threads in blue and white shades. The blue shade comes from the process of dyeing over wood fire with indigo plants. While the white shade comes from natural cotton, without the need to dye.
The piece is woven together on the back with a strip that combines threads in white and brown. Both white and brown shades come from natural cotton, without the need to dye.
We highlight our Lainguz piece with a representation of Inguz runes, woven by hand using the ancient technique of reverse appliqué Mola. This technique originated from the Guna culture, closely connected to the stars and the spiritual realm. The Viking rune Inguz originates from the Celtic culture and symbolizes fertility after rooting an intention and represents regeneration and new beginnings.
Like the rest of the piece, the Inguz rune comes to life with organic cotton fabric woven on loom. Its colors come from indigo plants (blue and green shades), zacatlaxcalli and marigold plants (yellow shades), and cochineal insects (pink and red shades). Cochineal insects reproduce on the nopal cactus and their color is extracted by leaving to dry under sunlight and boiling over wood fire.
